Building a New Statewide Funding Model for Youth Mental Health in Texas
Tread Together unites strategic philanthropy, transformative investment, and proven organizations together to help strengthen youth mental health efforts across Texas.
What is Tread Together?
Texas does not lack solutions to the youth mental health crisis. Proven organizations and evidence-based approaches already exist. What’s missing is the transformative investment required to help those solutions reach more children, families, schools, and communities.
Rather than creating new programs, Tread Together works to strengthen and sustain proven organizations advancing youth mental health through healthcare, education, research, prevention, and community-based support.
Tread Together was created around a simple idea: when proven leaders have more stable, sustained funding, they are better positioned to expand their reach and create long-term change.
The Crisis and the Opportunity
The youth mental health crisis is not a future threat – it is one of the defining challenges of our time, and Texas is at its epicenter.
- 1 in 3 Texas children experience a mental health disorder each year
- 61% of children with depression go untreated
- There is typically an 8-10 year delay between symptoms and treatment
- 246 of 254 Texas counties lack adequate mental health providers

Solutions exist. What’s missing is the ability to scale them
“Not incremental change. Not modest progress. A dramatic reversal of the youth mental health crisis in Texas.”
